PCLinuxOS - new version

I'd recommend anyone to check out the latest version of PC Linux OS. I just downloaded the default KDE live CD and think it's awesome. Great new logo (voted for by users), superb graphics, nice menus and desktop layout, plus it played a YouTube video straight off from my Windows pendrive. I tried to use the 2008 version of this when I first considered moving to Linux but ended up with Ubuntu because no one here could configure anything else to work with the Claro broadband modem. Shortly though I'll be in an area with cable connections so this is going to be my choice.

Nope, although I appreciate these things are very much a personal taste :)
I guess you're more likely to like it if your Spanish or using Ubuntu? :D As the logo was chosen via a user survey one would also assume that it's popular with the "locals".

It's a million times better than the dreadful and uninspiring Ubuntu logo! :D

Eye-candy or Minimalist, each has their place. Apple has gone far with their very minimalistic logo. I like Ubuntu's logo, actually I like them both. PCLinuxOS's new logo is definitely an improvement over their old one, but from a designer's point of view it is a little hard to keep their new logo looking consistent over a vast range of media. (i.e. one color printing) Ubuntu is very minimalistic, yet it says something. Ubuntu means community, and the logo is supposed to be three people holding hands. What I think is nice about it is how it lends itself to modification for the other Ubuntu based distros.

I like Ubuntu's and Apple's logo too. For a logo, I like it simple, or as you say, minimalistic. :)

I can appreciate the versatility of the logo but rather than 3 people holding hands, it always looks like 3 people in a call centre to me! :)

Apple's logo is a design classic with its reference to the supposed suicide of Alan Turing by virtue of eating a cyanide laced apple.

LOL! How about three people skydiving? Ubuntu for thrill seekers? Sounds sort of cool. Here I made the logo! :p

WOW Ritho, that's great artwork... looks wonderful... maybe you should send them to the Ubuntu people? :D

Thanks Anupam. Maybe we should use it for an article. Something like, "Take the dive, feel the thrill, try a different OS. The ultimate in freeware." Maybe Jojoyee would be interested in doing something.
