Default Condres OS

Although not always relevant itís often a good idea to look at the development background of a Linux distro before deciding to use it. Many are little more than single developer vanity projects and most of these do little or nothing to promote the benefits of Linux in general.

One I came across recently seems to have logical roots to its foundation and is definitely a worthy trial.

The two Italian programmer brothers (twins) behind the project make their living servicing Italian companies so their choice of an Arch base as opposed to Ubuntu or anything else is obviously based on what they believe to be the most viable solution.

The only quibble I have is their ability to maintain multiple desktop choices but no doubt time will tell.

Which release is the "real" one?
Distrowatch says it's Feb. 28/2019,
CondresOS says it's March 1/2019.

As they iron that one out,
maybe they should get a more complicated url to remember?

Btw, you have to be a speed reader to catch the text on their homepage intros.

The current release is 19.03. I downloaded via the torrent hosted at SourceForge.

I'm only really interested in KDE but I did look at the Xfce and Cinnamon options too. Problem is distros like Voyager make anything else Xfce look tame and there are better Cinnamon releases too.

I did install KDE onto an internal SSD and it's certainly the fastest I've used even when copying heavy files from an external HDD. Only issue so far was Kpatience crashing either itself or the whole desktop but I've encountered this before so it's not a specific Condres issue.

Faster than Manjaro KDE?

CondresOS (sounds Spanish more than Italian) 3G+ KDE file is big enough.

Trying to qualify this a bit more after a full day of use.

The machine I used for testing previously was a laptop with i5 3320M + 4G. This I lent to someone who managed to get it stolen. Now I'm using a Dell Optiplex 3060 SFF with an i3 8100T + 4G.

The 8th generation i3's though outperform some of the older i5's so I'm not sure how objective a comparison might be but for opening stuff like file manager, web browser and file copying, Condres is much faster.

Definitely not the fastest to install neither to boot (over 2 min. on my SSD, even on 2nd try).
Applications don't seem to load much faster than other KDEs.

Sorry, not my cup of tea.

Boot time on my machine is 35 seconds.

All applications are faster to load including the file manager and LibreOffice.

Wish i could say the same MC.

Just one of those things i guess.
Reminds me of MX17 which for some unknown reason, could never install on same SSD.
18.1 does super well. Go figure.

If anyone else is looking at this and can't work out why their site is locked or if they've installed and can't sync the mirrors, since this morning they've been subject to a DDOS attack. I've been in contact and hoped it would have been resolved by now but sadly not.
