Default Anyone doing Solus lately?

Solus may not have been the most used on my laptop, but it is definitely getting a lot of usage!

So, what is there to like about this Linux flavor?
-excellent forum help (with devs actively intervening to lend a helping hand);
-lightweight and fast distro (not based on Ubuntu, LinuxMint etc.);
-simple (not overloaded with tons of apps) and good, rock solid choice of software to choose from.

With regards to the last point, it would be nice to see more related info. but i'm sure that'll come in time.

Btw, forgot to mention that it starts up in a flash (12 seconds maybe) and shuts down in about a second and a half.

Dual booting on SSD 120G using grub-customizer (available in their software dept.) that i've configured to give Windows priority on boot just to avoid issues with Windows upgrades.

I tried it for a short time last month but experienced freezes, settings options locking up and Bluetooth doesn't work, not to mention the difficulties trying to install additional software not in the default list. Overall, Budgie Remix 16.04 is IMO a much better option.

Wasn't expecting such a "dramatic" response!
Have had a bit of an issue to get an HP printer to work (not a surprise) and funny enough, an HP on network got in just fine.
Why some distros like LinuxMint never have issues with these and others do?

Getting software other than the official repo. is an adjustment.
Reminds me Firefox 56 dropping off legacy addons.
Much better option in Solus afaic with regards to security.

Running off to look at Budgie Remix in the pet food dept.

There is now an official Budgie flavor of Ubuntu (17.04). This has a limited support cycle but is likely to be less problematic overall. Budgie Remix (16.04) is community support only.

Does Budgie Remix have that silly top panel you can't get rid of in Ubuntu?

That's one thing i like about Solus.
No top panel by default there.

You can move the main panel location and also dump Plank too if you feel so inclined.
