Default Free Recording program for Linux from my preamp

I am currently running Linux Mint Debain Edition 2 (Betsy) and am using JRivers Media Centre 20 for Linux. This program is still in development and lacks a way to record music through my sound card to my computer. so I am seeking the SIMPLEST most Micky Mouse program out there to record music to my HDD using a Linux operating system from my preamplifier through my soundcard. I do not need for it to encode or anything else. Just to download the sound files.
