Default Ubuntu 14.04 will not include "Ubuntu One"

In the upcoming Ubuntu 14.04 LTS release, the "Ubuntu One" file services will not be included as it will be shut down from 1 June 2014. User content will be available for download until 31 July 2014.

According to Canonical, their strategic priority for Ubuntu is making the best converged operating system for phones, tablets, desktops and others, while the free storage wars arenít a sustainable place for them to be.

IMO Ubuntu is suffering on two fronts, one being Unity and the other Mint. Hence their need to be more budget conscious and discontinue resource sapping services such as One. The net result of this could be a falling out (with Mint) which might leave LMDE as the sole survivor. (great film by the way if you haven't seen it) Since IMO the Debian based edition is a better product, Mint fans needn't worry too much about the result.
