I'd rather not enter anything to get something outside my interest. That's why I asked for links, no further curiosity than that.

Forgot to add reverse engineering (example) in the discussion. Obscurity isn't reliable (or at least predictable) in the long-term.

Sorry - no

Reverse-engineering takes its time.

What's the distro with the most online direct support? IRC, forum, etc...

Quantity-wise or quality-wise? When it comes to quantity, probably nothing beats Ubuntu. Debian's community has a much better quality though. - OTOH, I doubt that's how you should choose your preferred operating system.

I'm having a hard time obtaining help on the Debian channel.
I know i should RTFM, but still. Getting good answers fast would help migration from windows to linux.

I just looked at ZorinOS. It's supposed to look like WinXP, making it easier to find stuff, but i got no response on the IRC channel and the homepage doesn't even list the software included or what version of Ubuntu/Debian it's based on.

It's frustrating not being able to do what i could do in my sleep on WinXP.
Took me a day and a half to rip one DVD, the result is bad and it took another hour to figure out how to burn the image because both Xfburn and Brasero didn't seem to like the image or the blank dvd.

You might just want to stick to Windows then. Don't expect different distributions to have different software.

(BTW, tried K3b?)

I finaly used dvd+rw-tools and Growisofs.

I hate windows 7 (my games don't even work on it) and WinXP is about to be dumped by ms.

Zorin started out as a good project but several versions ago lost the plot with their own forked desktop. I know of no one who is able to run this now without constant problems.
