Did an install for someone else today that updated OK but then no new software can be installed. Both Software Center and Package Manager return a "cannot connect to superx.com - connection refused" error. Tried then later with my own machine and as expected it's the same. I hope they get their internal wranglings sorted soon otherwise folks are likely to jump ship, me included.

Edit: Their email address is not bouncing so I've attempted a contact using this method.

The software server at least is now partly operational again. They had an unexpected issue according to the reply given on their Facebook page.

Latest post:

"We have multiple repositories. KDE stuffs were hosting in superxos.com and since the server went down the stuffs are not reachable. Our team is working to fix this, and soon it will come live along with updates like KDE 4.10.5 etc.. We'll bring some more mirrors this time so that there's backup available if such issue again come in the future."

Distrowatch lists just one review of this distribution, and that reviewer gives it just 6 out of 10. Why don't the folks being SuperX devote their energy to improving a good distro, instead of starting yet another distro, and a poor one at that?

Well, that review is by the one and only Dedoimedo and his experience in no way reflects what I see on the three machines I have SuperX installed on. On the other hand, he rates Netrunner much higher and yet I can't even get a live session to do more than a couple of standard operations without crashing. For me, SuperX is faultless but different hardware will obviously give a different experience, so might more advanced requirements for the system but I have two machines in constant use and not even a wobble. IMO the other review I linked to in an earlier post here better reflects my own experience.

Bit more news. WINE will be supported in the 32 bit version of 2.1 which is due to be released in the next few days.

Very good news, a little late but good news all the same. As for it being 32 bit that's quite fine with me because I installed the 32 bit version of Kubuntu which is a surprisingly good distro as well. I become more and more impressed with KDE every time I try it. I look forward to trying Superx 2.1.

They are still posting on their Facebook page but the former site and forum links are both returning a 404. Certainly their admin leaves a lot to be desired because this has been going on for weeks. I've already switched my ATI box over to SolydK and I'd install it into my main machine too were it not for the NVIDIA issues with SolydK. I might try using DDM with a live session of SolydK later to see if this resolves the freezes but I'm not sure if this is possible without making a full install.

According to an email I received today, the website will be back up in a few days after a revamp.

The 2.1 "Ada" being released shortly is basically a set of update packages for 2.0 "Darwin" so support for both will be until April 2017 as per the Ubuntu LTS on which SuperX is based.
