Lightbulb What's (Not) Hot on File Sharing websites?

Following the seizure of MegaUpload by the FBI and the arrest of it's founders for allegedly operating as an organization dedicated to copyright infringement, there has been intersting news since then:

It seems that MediaFire & 4shared, 2 popular file sharing websits lately have stopped providing services to anonymous users. You now have to create an account to upload and share files. No more anonymous uploading.

All sharing functionality on FileSonic is now disabled. The service can only be used to upload and retrieve files that you have uploaded personally. Now that sucks!

Any more interesting news on various file sharing websites? Post them below...

I've always like isendr for sharing with friends It turns your computer into a peer that the other person downloads from, kind of like torrents but without other people

You can do that with any of the good bittorrent clients by using the"embedded tracker" feature. Just create a private torrent using the embedded tracker of your client.
I do it all the time with several of my friends. If we are all active at once, speeds are great, but even with just one to one, it is good. Clean and perfect copy and no one else involved.

Good article from TorrentFreak on these cyberlocker services after megaupload went down. The article is from March, 2012, so a little out of date. Highlights losers and winners following the take down.
