I checked my control panel and mine updated to this version on the 19th.

Are version updates beyond the second decimal really relevant? Just an innocent question, please don't take offense.

I'm curious by members here being quite sensitive to what I would consider subtle and pretty much insignificant version updates. What significance do these minor updates offer to people other than programmers, developers, etc, etc.

Just looking for understanding. Thanks.

"Security fixes" is an oft-used phrase that convinces me to always keep updated.

Every company has different version schemes of their own. So, some use such version numbers as Flash Player, while others use different.

It might seem insignificant, but as J_L says, many of these new versions fix up various problems related to security vulnerabilities, or other bugs.

Since Flash Player is known to have a lot of security vulnerabilities, it's wise to update it always to its latest version.

Similarly for other software.. new versions fix up bugs and all. It's wise to remain updated.
