How do you the circumvent the aforementioned and also, how do you update your MS O/S?

Apologies i was technically inaccurate. I never disabled IE as such, i set my firewall do deny the process. Same result and is easy to reverse as and when necessary.

The lack of XP support is by design brought on by an attack of conscience in the Microsoft boardroom. I reckon they decided that having inflicted so much trauma on XP users over the years they wouldn't add to this further by giving them IE9 as well

I can't actually believe that I'm writing this post. In fact, I'm sure that I might even be flogged with a wet noodle for this post. But, I've got to say that I am liking IE9.

You might have seen a previous post from me a couple days ago where I bemoaned the fact that I upgraded to FF 4 and now my Roboform won't work. I've been contemplating solutions. Possible solutions have included: breaking down and purchasing another license for Roboform, uninstalling FF 4 and going back to FF 3.6, switching to LastPass, switching to Maxthon or another browser (Chrome, Lunascape, etc.).

I decided almost on a whim to update my windows updates today and saw IE9 as one of the updates. I decided "what the heck" and did it. I've been using it now for a couple hours (I know, not a whole lot of use), and I've got to say that it's fast; very fast. It appears to be very easily customized and my commercial Roboform works great.

I have been a diehard FF user for years. I'm almost grieving thinking about giving up FF. But, I am being stubborn. I don't want to buy an upgrade for RF, but I also don't want to switch to LastPass. (I use it at work, but I just don't like it as much.) I'm going to keep using IE9 for a while and see if I continue to like it.

P.S. Please no MS bashing....

The one I hated most about IE9 is the WOT extension icon has to take a whole row of space. Or have I missed out something?

I'm not sure what you are seeing with WOT, but here's my screenshot. As you can see, I have a line for Roboform and a line of favorite bookmarks. Maybe WOT doesn't take up what I think is a lot of space because I already have 2 rows?

Me too he says quietly from out of a dark corner

Now the speed differential is irrelevant, that alone removes one of the biggest hurdles, plus the integration with other MS components such as MSE and the firewall make IE9 a fine choice. Add to that the most comprehensive of the TP security extensions so far (Trend Micro Browser Guard) only supports IE and this makes it an even better choice. I fully intend to carry on using it until something happens to persuade me otherwise

So, MC are you using WOT along side Trend Micro Browser Guard? Are they working well together?

Yes, I have the TMBG icon at one end of Jojo's favorite toolbar and the WOT icon at the other. I'm also using a couple of block lists with IE, Speckie and DuckDuckGo.
