Does ChromePlus have a support forum anywhere?
My preferred browser K-Meleon isn't properly supported / updated any longer and in any case the JavaScript implementation is too slow now. I want to change to a slim, fast browser that has a modern JS implementation. I also use Firefox of course but with the plugins it's a dog compared to K-Meleon and I assume Chrome. Chrome is out because of the privacy issues for me, so Sware Iron or ChromePlus would probably do the job - slim, fast, and most likely a modern JS install. But here is problem #1: I also use Windows 2000 because it's so fast compared to the modern Windows OSs, and neither Iron nor ChromePlus will install on it. I'd like to see if I can find a fix for that, which needs forum access. Iron has a German language forum, but there is some problem with registration that I can't get past. ChromePlus doesn't seem to have a forum on their site, is there one somewhere else? If not can we start one here MC? ![]() |

I keep reading about "privacy issues". Is there a FAQ on the subject, especially on whether just using (or not using) a particular browser is sufficient to deal with the "privacy issues" or whether there's more to be done in any case (Wireshark, VPNs, etc)? I ask this because some folks might get the impression that merely not using Chrome is sufficient.
In this case, on the one hand, we have the "known devil" in Chrome. How does one assess Iron or Chrome Plus? How much is known about the purveyors of these products? Do the modifications made to these browsers increase or decrease their security relative to Chrome? |

Yeah these are good points but I have a personal issue with Google tracking so need to minimise that aspect - is all. No big thing.
As regards the difference between Chrome and Iron, if you look on the page on Iron's site regarding what they took out, there's a fair amount. It's true that there is no privacy, unless you use a full paid-for proxy service, TrueCrypt your disk entirely, and don't use things like Flash, or alternatively police those kinds of apps very carefully, plus put other measures in place on top of that. In other words spend time, trouble and money on it all. That's going too far for me but as I say, I'm only interested in cutting down certain areas of tracking. A simple choice of apps is enough to fix what I need to. |

@chris.p
Do you like ChromePlus better than SWare Iron? If yes, in what way? Do you know if I can try it out (portable version) if I already have SWare Iron? Concerned about profiles. Thanks in advance.
