Default Help with Firefox

Hi, I just finished downloading Firefox on my Vista home premium 64 bit. I have no idea what to do from there. My firefox page just has google on it and nothing else. Can someone please recommend what they think are the neccessary addons. I need something to remember my passwords, a program to check my websites like (wot) and any other extensions that are necessary and that will make things easier for me. I don't want to download extensions that I don't need. I don't even know how to set up my page so it shows something beside the google box. I did add the recommended Ad blocker already. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Amysue,
To start if you check all the top menus you will find that you can import all your Internet Explorer Favorits (they are called Bookmarks in Firefox).
In the Bookmarks menu you will find plenty of help including (under Mozilla Firefox) a complete help and tutorial. That should get you started but feel free to come back here if you need more.
I have been using FF for a couple of years now and it is much better and safer than IE.
Enjoy.
Jim.

So you have just started out with Firefox? . You will like the browser for sure.
There are plenty of extensions available for different purposes. Will list out some of them, which might be of use to you.

AdBlock Plus : You already have.
WOT : You mentioned it. And its a nice extension.
NoScript : To block java and other scripts on the page, which may be harmful. You can turn them on for selected websites, which you think are safe.
FlashGot : A nice extension to integrate various download managers with Firefox.
DownThemAll : Another fantastic downloader for Firefox, capable of downloading all links on a page, and other features.
FEBE : To backup your extensions, themes, bookmarks, profile and other things. Pretty useful.
Foxmarks : To sync your bookmarks online, so that you have a backup of your bookmarks on Foxmarks site, and also, you can access your bookmarks from anywhere else. Another great extension.
DownloadHelper : To download video from sites like Youtube.
Sothink Web Video Downloader : For downloading videos.

These are the ones I use. People may suggest more.

I would suggest not to worry about all that too much, and just get on ahead with the browsing . You can install the things as you need them, and Firefox will prompt you for them.
There are websites which use java applets, so you need to install Java Runtime for that. Some websites use flash media... and for that you need Adobe Flash. You can download flash for Firefox here:
http://www.softwarepatch.com/softwar...n-firefox.html

Quicktime plugin is used to play some media content on the browser. But, you may not need it probably. If there is such content, Firefox will prompt you.

I suggest LastPass for your password manager.

I highly, highly suggest the NASA Nightlaunch theme!

Check here for another good list of add-ons to pick from.

You've asked how to set up your start page aka home page. Here you go

Go to the top text menus >> Tools >> Options >> Main tab >> home page box --- type in the site you want. Obviously - www.techsupportalert.com

Pix below. They are a bit blurry but OK, keep pressing next on the lightbox and you can cycle through them.
