Opera 60.0.3255.116 Stable update for macOS;

https://blogs.opera.com/desktop/2019...ate-for-macos/

"This is an update for macOS to prevent CPU spikes while access to the microphone is allowed. There’s one more fix – minimizing Opera while it’s not the active application" .....

Probably worth noting in this thread that Opera have made an early access version of Opera GX available to anyone who wants to give it a try.

Opera opens early access to Opera GX, the world’s first gaming browser;

https://blogs.opera.com/desktop/2019...y-access-lvl1/

"..we would like to invite you to try something completely new. Opera GX is a specially tuned version of the Opera browser, with new and unique features and design meant for people who love to play computer games. Right now, we are opening the early access program (for Windows), which means that, starting today, you will be able to download and test the browser and shape it with us. We will be launching the final version later this year"

Windows only - also 64 bit only.

Interesting for sure, but not really for the likes of me because I'm not a gamer and haven't a clue what games are all about. But I've installed it, it's a separate install so won't affect you're other versions of Opera. It's a different UI, dark theme, various UI colour options, permanent games tab but new tab opens the speed dial which has different style tiles with various animations and also sound effects when hovering over tiles, and there are new wallpapers. There are also options in the sidebar to control or limit CPU and RAM while you're gaming.

As I said, it's not for me but if you're a gamer you might want to try it. It runs fine, no crashes, and other than the gaming aspect of it you can still use it as the standard Opera browser - all the settings and options are there and you can install all the usual extensions etc.

It's certainly different

I quite like using Opera GX. I thought at first it was a dev release but it's not, it's a stable version;

LVL1 (core: 60.0.3255.50747)
Update channel:Stable
System:Windows 10 64-bit

You can't close or disable the GX Corner tab, the gaming page, but I've worked out how to open the browser on the speed dial page so I'm ok with that. No light theme though, just dark so I've installed the Lunar Reader extension and it works well. I also quite like using a darked themed browser.

Other than the games theme part of the browser, it's basically Opera Stable so now I have just GX installed. Personally, I think it's better than the standard Opera browser.

You've must've installed the Sidebar extension, in which case you'll have two icons, one in the toolbar and one in the sidebar? .... and you can't hide the sidebar icon.

Try un-installing it and re-installing the one from the normal extension page, here;

https://addons.opera.com/en-gb/extensions/?ref=menu

That should work, you can hide it from the toolbar.
