Probably was FF itself, new versions coming all the time so likely it'll get fixed. Been using this portable version pretty much all day today and no problems at all.

I'll wait for the 5th beta and probably report a bug then.

Downloaded the portable version to the laptop tonight, thought I'd try it out with the touch screen. It updated to 57.0b5 on first run. Not too bad, a bit glitchy with the pinch movements and the density stayed in touch mode even after exiting it. Worked well enough though, and sure improvements will come in that area in future versions.

Had the Windows Search Indexer thing as well, same as on the desktop, so it was using CPU quite heavily. Once I'd stopped that happening everything was normal again, CPU wise, but I did notice that the browser was using a fair ammount of memory, quite a lot in fact. Also noticed that when CPU was running high the task bar wouldn't auto hide or show, this was more noticeable on heavy graphic sites - online newspapers etc, so maybe add-ons (adblocker) were responsible for that also, combined with the WSI issue.

Once I'd resolved the high CPU the laptop ran well with FF Beta, didn't get hot and ran smoothly. Better than it has with some of the Chrome/Blink browsers I've tried on it.

Same here (portable) no freezes or crashes.
