Default Firefox 56 requires Windows reboot?

This a.m., downloaded Firefox 56 from MajorGeeks, overwriting existing installation.
After which it required system reboot.
Weird!
Although i usually wait for "official" update via the program itself,
never has this happened this before!

That sounds a little suspicious!
I never use a third party source for something as important as that.
I'm on the release channel and it hasn't updated me yet.

Ya well, guess i did lack in some basic prudence here.

At least "reliable" Windows Defender did not spot anything.

I do not remember correctly, but, I have installed Firefox over the previous version in the past, and might have been told to reboot. I do that on my laptop. On my desktop, I install Firefox fresh for a major version.

Again, I don't remember correctly about it.

Installed on top of existing installation on my laptop, and it did not ask for a reboot. I think it might also depend on what extensions you might have installed?
