Some solid security improvements.

trainman261 08. Mar 2017 09:07 PM

Great, now they removed plugin support, too, with the only exception being flas.
Next question: how do we get back the ability to use those plugins - anyone know anything yet?
Getting sick and tired of this crap. Almost every new FF release I have to figure out how to bypass some new restriction they've implemented.

Frustrated isn't the word anymore...

After doing about: plugins, i went over to their help link and spotted this at the end of the article:
"Important: The Windows 64-bit version of Firefox 52 ESR only supports the Adobe Flash and Microsoft Silverlight plugins. If you also need support for Java or other plugins, choose the Windows (32-bit) download."

Remah 09. Mar 2017 08:49 AM

I'm running 64-bit Firefox 52 and didn't even realise they were gone. Clearly, some of the features have been taken over by web-based APIs because I haven't had any issues.

HTML 5 ???
I was under the impression that JAVA was banned by security experts. I have not had it on my machine for years
NB Javascript IS different.

Other than the plugins issue...

Now that Classic Theme Restorer (over 400,000+ users) will become discontinued when November comes around, joining the ranks of Beyond Australis (37,000) and probably the whole complete theme section with FT DeepDark first in rank (155,000+) to name a few...

The only other option that still keeps me at going back to Firefox is the find as you type option.

Extensions and Themes used to be key components of what set Firefox apart but i guess Mozilla no longer sees it that way...

Unless Mozilla does something to appease their die hard fan club, they'll continue their downward trend.

Burn-IT 09. Mar 2017 11:37 PM

When classic theme restorer ceases to become effective I will be looking elsewhere and Mozilla can die.

trainman261 10. Mar 2017 10:25 PM

For me the real problem will be when tab groups (that is, the add-on that replaces them - maintained by the same author who created beyond Australis) disappear. I use that all the time and it's really the main reason I use firefox (that, and the fact that you had total freedom what you installed on your copy of Firefox).

Think i'm shifting to Waterfox as of now.

They've recently tweeted this:
"Development of Waterfox WILL continue, even as Mozilla deprecate XUL/NPAPI. More details to follow with release later this week."

No 32 bit there, but if my extensions continue to work.
Then I'll be happy.

Hope that's just an oversight and not permanently out of sight.

Mozilla has enough on its hands full with constant planned failures...

Somebody reported this as a bug and Mozilla said they won't fix that. End of story.

Hi christophernoah and welcome to the forum!

It's always best to give details of your system if you want other forum users to help you.

Because of the complete lack of details it could be any of the following: a corrupted FF profile and/or if you are using addons, one of them could be causing the issue.

This article should help:
