Default Maxthon browser is not secure

Normally I don't open new threads, but MC asked me to do this so here it is:

"... It allows conducting the targeted attack on a selected user by revealing the browser authors the complete list of exact versions of programms, some of which may be vulnerable, also providing them with user’s browsing history and Google searches ...":

I don't use Maxthon anymore but that's an interesting read. I looked on their forum and there are threads on the subject;

... and this from their CEO, Jeff Chen, in response to the issue;

Damage limitation? ... difficult to determine who or what to believe I suppose. And are they doing anything different to other browsers or whatever, regarding data harvesting?

No point in skirting the facts, they're a Chinese company and, let's be honest, Chinese companies do have rather a tarnished image where software is concerned. This certainly isn't going to do their reputation much good. But here am I, happily using Windows 10, so ......
