After a couple of months of playing with Vivaldi, I decided that it will be my main browser once Firefox dropped XUL support (which will probably be this year). Quite a good piece of software even in its early stages.

I wonder what makes a "beta" so special that they need a "beta release candidate". It's just another name for an unfinished build.

I think they do it because they don't have a stable version for people to install, you can only download a beta version from their home page; https://vivaldi.com

Not everyone installs the snapshot versions, instead preferring to wait for official beta releases. Slightly less risky in terms of stability. So the beta release candidate is to make sure there aren't too many bugs in the official beta once it's released, via testing, feedback etc.

There is no finished product yet - and are browsers ever finished? ..

Be interesting to see if, once they have a stable final for release, they switch to stable and beta channels ... or even stable, beta and developer channels like other browsers do.

We're all Guinea Pigs for Vivaldi at the moment, some more than others depending on whether we choose to install the frequent snapshots.

Snapshot 1.0.418.3 - Focusing on individual requirements, not statistics.

The trend to keep existing features and to bring forth new ones is always on!
