I won't stop using an adblocker, just because the ad companies "accepted" that they messed up. I have seen PCs running without adblockers, and it looks real messy. The ads also fool people into clicking on false links. I always install an adblocker on computers of my relatives and friends, in order to keep them as much safe as possible. Adblocking is the first step in order to prevent novice users from clicking on wrong links.
Ads means money, and where money is involved, you can't trust people on what they say.

pretty much the same as Anupam on this one:
it's the first thing that gets installed on a PC - except on a M$ system, where it's FF & then the A/B .. it's seriously amazing the difference that a A/B can make. & it should be standard on every PC !. |

I haven't used an AV for years lol
do you guys use AB as an addon in browser or the ones that actually "installs" onto windows? I use both adblocker plus and ublock in firefox, but none for the rest of windows |

I am using uBlock Origin. When last I looked into it there were no free solutions for the Windows operating system itself.
I am curious. Don't AB and uBlock basically do the same thing? Why use both? As add-ons go, both add-ons are high on memory AFAIK. |

i like the element helper better on adblock
![]() and it's easier to manage the filters ublock is easier in that it kind of acts like noscript (shows the domains that are on site) but other than that it isn't as friendly to use. And ublock doesn't seem to always hide things as well as adblock, so I use both but I also run ghostery too :S and some other anti-tracking addons... I kind of just load up and forget about them |

hehe, I just found out about ublock original... been using ublock. I haven't found anything saying one is better than other, is there any noticeable difference?
I switched to original and I'll try it for a week but it seems the same so far. I get the 4 icons at bottom of addon drop down but other than that nothing different. Wish one of them would label 2nd column as global and the 3rd as local, took me until just now to figure it out |

There was a controversy some months ago that led to the creation of ublock origin. If you search you may come up with the story. Anyway, I believe gorhill's side of the story concerning what happened. That is why I am using ublock origin.
