Default Firefox 38.0.5 and Sandboxie

All,

I've googled around for an answer, been to the Sandboxie, Mozilla and Tab Mix Plus forums, can't find an answer...

All of these updated simultaneously and the problem(s) started...

1. When I open Firefox now, a blank tab opens up first, followed by sandboxed Firefox in the next tab over, meaning, 2 tabs open, one blank, one Firefox.

If I open an un-sandboxed FF, no issues..

I know this maybe a long shot, any ideas?

I threw Tab Mix Plus in here because their recent stable version caused FF exit problems, not sure if this is the root cause, but I downloaded their current development version, still having an issue.

2. Should I install the development version of SBIE to see if this fixes the problem?

I'm at a loss.

THX, as always...

Hi windycty. I just tested Tab Mix Plus using a new Firefox profile, with the new profile and Sandboxie 4.19.1, I did not see an extra tab when opening Firefox sandboxed. Perhaps all you need to do to fix your issue is delete the sandbox manually, then try running Firefox sandboxed afterward.

You could also create a new sandbox and run Firefox there. If you don't see the extra tab using the new sandbox then is likely the old sandbox is corrupted or a setting is messing things up. Don't copy settings and test using the sandbox default settings. But set the new sandbox to delete on closing.

Sandbox>Create new sandbox

Your issue could also be due to a conflict with another addon that you are using. If the above don't work, perhaps you can test as I did. 1. Create new Firefox profile, 2. Install Tab mix, 3. Run Firefox in the sandbox.

You could also install Sandboxie 4.19.1 but I doubt that will fix your issue. I guess you are using 4.18 now. The difference between 4.19.1 and 4.18 is very little. But sometimes a reinstall fixes issues. So, you can install 4.19.1 over the top if you want to. IMO, the latest beta is more stable than 4.18. After testing Tab mix, I doubt is conflicting with Sandboxie. Try what I suggest and let us know.

I don't have that problem either :S

I wonder if firefox added its own sandbox now, but I haven't seen anything like it
Maybe you have the open blank tab as the homepage setting?

the closest thing I have to it doing that is when I open it, firefox loads a blank tab before populating it with my homepages.

It might be your session manager?

Or does it happen when you try to open two firefoxes at once and it merges them into one window? IE the "force single window" in tabmix

Bo: I tried everything you suggested, still loading a blank page when I first boot up...It doesn't do this if I close out of Firefox during the day, then re-open, just first boot-up.

Firefox is set to open with my homepage, and it does, it just loads a blank tab with my home page.

I think it's in Tab Mix Plus - they have had issues with Firefox tab closing and the application itself since their last stable version.

eyeb: changed the option for session manager, this morning - I have been using Firefox's built in session manager, now using TMP's.

Let's see what happens - it's not Sandboxie, it's not Firefox, at least I don't think it is...

Keep you posted - this is just annoying.

Windycty, if with a new Firefox profile you still get the extra tab when you run Firefox sandboxed, that sounds like a conflict with SBIE. But, when I tested Tab mix (I didn't change any settings, I don't know anything about the addon), I didn't get the extra tab and eyeb, who is using the addon, don't get the extra tab either when he runs Firefox sandboxed...I don't know what to think.

If settings in Tab mix can be exported, get me the file for your settings and I ll test your settings with my Firefox to see if I get the extra tab.

Made the change to session manager - now using TMP's - I've had no issues since.

Here are my TMP preferences, attached.

Thanks, as always.

So you are good now. Nice. I tested your settings and didn't cause the extra tab. I think they are fine with Sandboxie.

Bo: Seems to be OK. No issues in the past 24 hours.

Thank you both for the assistance...
