Default Firefox 37

Firefox 37 has been released.

Release Notes here: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo.../releasenotes/

Strangely, the page where offline installer is available for Firefox, is offering the stub download for Windows, whereas offline installer for other OS versions is available. Don't understand this.

https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/

Offline installer can be downloaded from the ftp site though:

http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.o...t/win32/en-US/

I will wait the night, and see if offline installer for Windows is available in the morning.

Thanks Anupam for the update info. However, when I click on Help > About Firefox, it tells me that FF is up to date at version 36.0.4. I always install any updates over-the-top and via the aforementioned method: strange that it is not showing version 37!

They are running behind on this for some reason, is my guess. First, it was the delay in uploading the offline installer. I haven't updated to the new version yet, and still, it hasn't shown me the notice for the latest version.

Guess we might see a bug fix version soon?

I always update manually, so I always download the setup.

Hi Torres. Yesterday, as usual, I updated Firefox in my W7, Via Help > About Firefox. The update was available and all went well. About 6 hours later, when I tried to to do the same in my XP, I got same message as you (Firefox up to date). I ended up updating Firefox in the XP by doing an over the top installation. In another forum, I read about someone in W8 getting the Firefox is up to date message when trying to update via Help. So, who knows why some computers got the update Via Help and others don't.

Firefox 37 runs great. I found the plugin H264 coming back. To get rid of it now, users have to toggle to False a new preference (media.gmp.provider.enabled).

There is also a new feature called Heartbeat. If someone likes to disable it, it can be done in about:config by setting preference (browser.selfsupport.url) to ""

Hi Bo,
I downloaded FF 37 (I checked again today and I still couldn't update from within FF) from Anupam's 3rd link and it installed without a hitch.
I always have plugin H264 disabled and set to 'never activate'. Thanks for the Heartbeat info.
