Default Adobe Flash Player 17

Adobe Flash Player 17.0.0.134 has been released.

The setup files without any bundled software can be downloaded from here:

https://www.adobe.com/products/flash...ribution3.html

The uninstaller can be downloaded from here:

https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player...er_uninstaller

Download and run the uninstaller first to get rid of Flash Player completely, and then install the new version.

Thanks Anupam!

A strange thing happened to me. I went to the Distributions page (that you have linked in your first post) and downloaded the .MSI installer for plugin-based browsers (I use Firefox). After I ran the installer I checked in Control Panel and found I was still on version 17.0.0.169 . What the heck ? I checked Programs and Features just to make sure I wasn't seeing things, and sure enough the Adobe Flash Player entry has today's date.

Anyway, I went to the Distributions page again but this time I downloaded the .EXE. After running it the version number show up correctly this time.

So guys, DON'T download the .MSI installer.

Sometimes, they are late in updating the exe files, or the msi files. So, I think that was the case with you. If you download it now, it might be updated to the latest version. I always download the exe files personally, they are clean.

I suppose you are right. Never had a problem with the msi installers though.

Sure.

I pull FlashPlayerPlugin_17_0_0_188.exe, NPSWF32_17_0_0_188.dll and NPSWF64_17_0_0_188.dll from the installer. You can use universal extractor or install it inside sandboxie and just take them from the windows/system32 (and 64)/macromedia folder

I put the 3 files in firefox's program folder under the /browser/plugins folder. You'll need to make the plugins folder (not there by default) and put the files in it. Then drag that folder into the browser folder in the firefox app folder.

Let me know if it doesn't work, I'm not sure if I was clear above

Thanks eyeb. I always like to learn new ways of doing things, that's why I asked. Anyway, I think if I do go this route I would have to use the Sandboxie method. When I tried to extract the exe with Universal Extractor I got a dialog box telling me InstallShield extraction isn't 100% reliable and it gave me 3 options to try. I tried them all and none of them worked.
