Yandex Beta updated to version 16.4.0.6174 beta. No changelog in English but basically what gets updated in these builds is the Chrome version and Flash. I can now see they're both up to date. Chrome 49.0.2623.91 and Flash 21.0.0.182.

Also - my translation;

WHAT'S NEW

New in version 16.4 Beta

New option: Always use a secure DNS server from DNSCrypt Yandex.

Use DNSCrypt to protect from interception and spoofing of DNS queries.

This new option has been added in Advanced Settings.

So there is a post on their blog explaining how this works .... but it's in Russian

So, here's another brief translation from the blog post;

Support for DNSCrypt in Yandex.Browser

Our team believes encryption DNS is no less important than the transition to HTTPS, so we decided to support DNSCrypt-level in Yandex.Browser. And today we begin testing a new beta version of Yandex.16.4 browser, which users can enable in the settings - protect DNS queries.

All the requests in encrypted form will be sent to a fast Yandex DNS server, which is also supported by the DNSCrypt Protocol. We don't want to restrict users to only one server, so in the near future we will add the possibility to choose an alternative DNS server (for example, OpenDNS)

Also. To spoof an IP address by phishing, you can not only do an interception of a query, but also via the usual system host file. Therefore, we are now experimenting with the prohibition to use the system resolver in case of unavailability of the DNS server. We understand that enabling this option by default could harm users of corporate and local resources, so for now we are observing and collecting feedback. It would be interesting to hear the opinions of the community.

So that's basically it, for those who are interested. I've tried to convay as much information as possible in case it helps anyone here who's using Yandex. Browser Beta.

And also, for the record, as of today 16.3.0.7146 is the Final version of Yandex.Browser and, as stated above, 16.4.0.6174 is the latest Beta version.

Because it's just released today I'm not sure where to download it from, at least not from an English language site. Mine just auto updates. There are download links on their blog, but it's Russian language so I can't post a link here.

What you could do is download the 16.3 beta from here;
http://www.nsaneforums.com/topic/262...ser-1630-beta/

.... then once installed it should auto update.

Also, there are download links on the Beta support page, here;
https://yandex.com/support/yabrowser...aq/install.xml

.. you could try those. Of the two, for now, I'd be tempted to try the nsane forums link, the first one, and then let it update. I just downloaded it and it's the 16.3.0.5003 beta version.

Sorry to be so vague, but it can be confusing trying to download the Beta from their official English language download page. But it's here if you want to try that;
https://browser.yandex.com/desktop/m...r-beta-10.html

That's the page I linked to in the first post on this thread. Edit - just downloaded it from there. It's 6796 - which you've had installed before, reading your previous posts.

Didn't know about this:

In December 2015 Yandex acquired Agnitum software technology. These technologies will now be used to protect users of
Yandex Browser. As a result of the acquisition, Agnitum terminates direct and partner sales of the Outpost product line.
Agnitum will provide antivirus base updates, bug fixing and technical support until December 31, 2016.

I read that when it came out originally, danielson - I think it may have been mentioned on the main site here as well, not sure though.

Anyway .... regarding the 16.4 beta. As far as I can tell, there is no English language version to download. It's Russian only and whatever the reason for that is, I have no idea. Resources, finance, who knows. Strange though, my beta versions update without a problem and the UI is English. Maybe because I never un-installed my original set-up. But that's the way it seems to be at the moment. I can find no English version of 16.4 beta, as yet.

However, what I have done is to fire up my old Vista machine, un-installed my Yandex beta version and then installed the 16.3.0.6796 Final version from the official Yandex download site, here;

https://browser.yandex.com/desktop/m...uckgo.com%252F

It installed in English (United Kingdom) ... it has the option to use the new or classic interface, it has the payment Protected Mode but it doesn't have the DNSCrypt option, yet. No doubt that will come in future updates.

So, having installed the Final version, I see that it has now evolved into the version we originally started discussing here - the Beta version, with the new look UI - Calypso. If that makes sense.

I haven't used Yandex.Browser Final for a long time, just the beta because I prefer the new look UI and thought the Final still used the classic UI .... so that's my mistake and in hindsight I should have tried this earlier. I've been looking at this from the wrong angle and I apologise for that, and the confusion it may have caused

And so, the only conclusion I can draw from this, for now, is for me not to post any more to this thread while the Beta version downloads remain in Russian language, there's no point.

Maybe better to start a new thread for the new look, latest Final version - 16.3.0.6796 ?
