I updated both of my computers to Firefox 26. My UI looks identical as it did before updating despite " browser.download.useToolkiUI" not showing up anymore in about:config. Anupam, I think, perhaps you can get rid of the Download manager if you downgrade Firefox, make the changes that you want and then upgrade again (over the top).

Nah, I don't like it that way. I don't wanna downgrade. And I always do a fresh installation everytime with a major update. Anyways, I don't have much issues with the new downloader now. It's OK. Not a big deal. Only thing is that it requires a bit of an extra click to clear the downloads, or see them.

Not sure why but Firefox works the best for me on this site. I seldom use IE or Chrome anymore. After reviewing the browser category I've found many alternatives with features I like better.
Here's a scoop. Word has it another browser is about to be added to the Mega-Browser category. I wonder what it could be?

The old downloader API has indeed been removed from Firefox 26.

They see the writing on the wall. Innovations from China (Maxthon) and Japan (Sleipnir) are pressuring Google and Mozilla to stay on top.

The main annoyance for me is that there's now a redundant button in AiO Sidebar which is irrelevant I guess but still an irritation to chronically OCD types as it just opens an empty space. This was fixed before with an AiO update but that was when the relevant code was still in place. Quote:
You can however get it back if you wish with this FF add on - Classic Style For Favicon - and without losing the Mozilla site info pop-out. ![]() As for how long it will work before Mozilla make yet more add ons defunct by changing code is anyone's guess ![]() Last edited by sicknero; 18.
