#1Submitted by sa1 on Fri, 06/05/2009 - 05:56. I need a tool that blocks the net or at least tells me when I've exceeded my usage limit having support for timings(such as not counting data at some specified time). I do not need fancy graphs. Is there such a tool? #2Submitted by sa1 on Fri, 06/05/2009 - 06:07. Ok found out that networx has timing support. Trying it out but seems a great tool. #3Submitted by Anonymous on Thu, 05/28/2009 - 11:00. I found a new one. It's called iTraffic monitor. you can get it at http://www.trvx.com/itrafficmonitor/ #4Submitted by George on Sat, 05/30/2009 - 16:32. Thanks for the note. I have added iTraffic Montior to the review. George #5Submitted by Anonymous on Sun, 05/10/2009 - 12:45. Netmeter seems to give wrong upload info on vista. was uploading at 60kb using ftp yet it was jumping to the 200KB mark when i only have 130KB upload max #6Submitted by Anonymous on Sat, 05/02/2009 - 12:08. it said that net meter would work on vista,, but not for mine. then i tried NetWorx and works well.. thx anyway ![]() #7Submitted by Anonymous on Fri, 05/01/2009 - 03:43. thanx for the freeware NetMeter. #8Submitted by Anonymous on Thu, 04/23/2009 - 12:10. A unique feature of NetWorx, not mentioned anywhere, is the ability to measure on-peak and off-peak traffic separately. I've been looking for this feature for some time. Very useful for countries like Australia where ISPs limit peak and off-peak traffic. #9Submitted by Anonymous on Wed, 04/22/2009 - 12:39. Is there a program where you can specify where to save and read your bandwidth information? So I can use the same file for my dual-boot system instead of having to look at one, then the other, and do math. #10Submitted by George on Thu, 04/23/2009 - 08:47. You can backup/restore your reports on/from your hard drive with NetWorx, if that's what you mean. #11Submitted by Anonymous on Fri, 04/24/2009 - 10:13. I mean I want a program where I can specify where to save the bandwidth information that it gathers, so I can specify the same location for each operating system, so it's easier to see my overall used bandwidth instead of the bandwidth for each partition. #12Submitted by Anonymous on Sun, 04/12/2009 - 13:27. NetWorx 4.9 , not 4.5.3 #13Submitted by George on Mon, 04/13/2009 - 11:50. Actually 4.9.1, but 4.5.3 was the release I tested for this article. #14Submitted by Anonymous on Mon, 04/13/2009 - 13:48. Every day new release, funny. #15Submitted by terrawarra on Sun, 03/08/2009 - 05:05. My favourite is "NetLimiter 2 Monitor v2.0.10.1" it's available free from: http://www.netlimiter.com/ #16Submitted by Anonymous on Tue, 02/24/2009 - 18:17. Anybody know of a Network monitor that can split usage up into Active directory users? #17Submitted by George on Tue, 02/24/2009 - 18:37. Hi, why don't you post this as a request in our new forum? Best regards, George #18Submitted by Anonymous on Mon, 02/16/2009 - 02:49. I am "limited" by my ISP (uploads and downloads = to a certain number of GBs each month). I have two PCs fed by a wireless router with Bitmeters installed on both PCs. The Bitmeter daily U/D stats don't fit the ISP monthly billing stats BY A LOT. What does Bitmeter measure and what does my ISP measure that they bill me for? Is it possible that they don't measure the same thing? I would like to use my bitmeter .CSV files to dispute my ISP monthly over-usage bills but I need to understand both measures. Any thoughts, insights? #19Submitted by Anonymous on Sun, 04/12/2009 - 13:16. hy . i have been looking for a meter to monitor my usage, as i am on limmited wireless 3 gb.. i have not found one that works yet. some , like netmeter, register severall thousand times more than you are actually using.thay seem to get mixed up with kb,s and mb,s and redgister mb,s instead of kb,s. have just tryed bitmeter , but it doesnt give your actual u/d load count. unless you go into whare it is saved, and mine registered , after 20 minutes, 56 kb. while net meter hade 7 mb,s. i think netmeter is milles too high, and bitmeter is miles too low.. i am still looking. for one that actually works, #20Submitted by Anonymous on Sun, 04/12/2009 - 13:48. i am now answering myself.. just tested networx and freemeter,, thay are registering miles too mutch,, a wast of space,

Free network shaping, Might be a good freeware alternative to netlimiter (if you don't mind setting up port numbers) |

This is a new comment by an anonymous user:
BitMeter2 is a memory-hog. (Something you might want to look at in future reviews?) Author basically said this cannot be changed bec it's running off Net Framework. I was happy with its configurability until I realized it was sucking up half as much memory as Firefox itself: uh, yikes much? Going to try NetMeter, thx for the reviews!

I'm always wary of this type of thing because there's often more behind it than might be obvious.
"There are currently some issues with the NetSpeedMonitor installation process and some Virus protection software. If NetSpeedMonitor is not available in the Taskbar's Toolbar menu and you don't want to deactivate your Virus protection during installation, you have to execute the following command: regsvr32 "C:/Program Files/NetSpeedMonitor/nsm.dll" I'm not sure about the x64 support because although my machine is capable I prefer to run Windows 7 x32, but I find Cool Beans System Info ideal because you can remove whichever sensors you don't need from the main group (including the summary strip underneath) or even separate out the monitors. I use the "large digital" network display option which I position just above my task bar. http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/...tem-Info.shtml
