I get them from their forum;

If you find one you like just click the download link.

The Snapper skin in nero's post is here;

... download link is under the image.

Download it, then go to your program files - Maxthon - _AppData - Maxthon3 - Skins. Drag and drop the downloaded skin into the folder.

Open Maxthon and go to settings - skins, and you should see the Snapper skin. Just click on it and the skin will load.

Alternatively once you've downloaded the skin, you can just double-click it and select Maxthon to open it.

I do like the Snapper one, definitely my favourite so far : )

Thank you very much.

My Start/Home page btw is down to the QAMod by the same chap (Zork) who made the Snapper skin. It lets you set the number of bookmarks in the Quick Access page and add/remove various elements such as the search box.

If that one interests you too, it has its own thread here - Maxthon QA Mod - he's been keeping it updated for Maxthon's new releases.

I'm using Maxthon now because of my resource-challenged system. It works better for me than Google Chrome and its kin.

Maxthon badly needs an extension like Session Manager for the Mozilla-type browsers and Session Buddy for the Chromium family browsers. I have lost way too many Maxthon sessions.

Maxthon also frequently fails to do downloads.

Windows XP
Home Edition
Version 2002
Service Pack 3

Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.66GHz
x86 Family 15 Model 2 Stepping 9
2.05 GB of RAM
Graphics Card: Intel(R) 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV
Graphics Controller, 64 Mb
Hard Drive Size 114.4GB
Free Space was 35.8GB; now under 20GB because after backing up My Documents on Google Drive, Google Drive has duplicated the whole darn thing on my hard drive
Motherboard: Dell Computer Corp., 0G1548
Antivirus : Webroot Internet Security

After a crash, and you re-open Maxthon, it should open with a tab allowing you to restore the tabs from your previous session. It's very rare to me, but I have seen it do that. I've never had a problem with downloads failing.

Are you using the latest stable version of Maxthon - v4.2.0.4000?

I'm looking at your post here, and the one in your other thread about emails, you mention your 'resource challenged system' and I'm wondering if your system is running very high CPU - mainly from an svchost process? If you open your Task Manager, does it show that?

This is a problem facing many XP systems at the moment, it may not be your problem, but I have a machine here doing that. It happened after installing Windows Updates, and many systems running XP have become almost unusable after installing the patches.

It's only a suggestion, but this could be the cause of your current issues - browser crashes, failed downloads, programs not loading etc. The svchost.exe using the high CPU is linked to the Automatic Updates service.

If you find that is the case you can stop the service running via control panel - admin tools - services. Find the 'Automatic Updates' service, right click on it and then stop it. Then see if it frees up your system.

As I say, this may not be what's causing your problems, so if it isn't just disregard this part of the post. It's also worth noting that, as of now, Microsoft haven't released any fix for this problem - to my knowledge.

Concerning downloads, I have found that the download manager sometimes fails to open On Top for some reason, so it seems as if the download isn't working but alt-tab shows that it is.

Annoying all the same, although the version I'm using now (4.2.4000) seems to have fixed that issue.

I've been running beta today, the most noticeable and welcome difference is that the downloader is working properly again, even in Sandboxie. I was having problems with that in 4.2.0.

Spoke too soon. Downloader was fine for a few days and is now back to it's previous erratic behaviour.

I have discovered a (not very satisfactory) solution though if anyone's having the same problem... at the start of a session, open the download manager before you do anything else. After that downloads seem to work just fine.

I read a comment on the Maxthon forum that adding a third party skin can cause problems like this but I've not checked it out yet.
