Default My real IP is being displayed inspite of usin VPN

I am using CyberGhost - one of the recommended VPNs in this forum. I have checked my IP address with numerous 'check IP' web sites including JonDonym's Anontest, while connected to the VPN, and they all show the new IP allocated by CyberGhost, but with one exception.

The JanusVM web site displays the IP when you click on their link " VIDEO: How to setup JanusVM and use in Windows". I did this and the video was played with the Windows Media Player, which also displayed my real IP. This was while connected to CyberGhost.

How could this happen?

Sorry I do not have an answer.

I can tell you that the same thing happened to me when I viewed the video while testing a different VPN. So it is not an issue of Ghostery.

At first I thought it was a glitch in WMP, but I played in RealPlayer and my real IP was again displayed.

Just tested this with SecurityKiss on my system.
My IP was successfully hidden (the Video displayed the VPN allocated IP address)

If anyone else wants to try this, the link to the video is at http://www.janusvm.com/main.html

Melita - sorry, I can't offer you any explanation why your IP address is displayed using CyberGhost.

I just downloaded SecurityKiss and went back to the site and it is still seeing my real IP. I thought maybe it had the ID from my cookies, but deleted cookies and still showing my real IP. I am using the free SecurityKiss.

What operating system/browser are you using Sope? I am on Windows 7 64bit/firefox 17

I am using Windows 7 - 64bit and Firefox 19. Could it be leaking from a plug in or an add on? I also had no cookies when this happened. Deleted the LSOs too, but it is still going out.

Regards,

I'm using :-
Opera 12.12
SecurityKiss (free)
Windows 7 64bit

Edit:
I've just tested with Firefox 18 and my IP address is still hidden from the JanusVM video using SecurityKiss.
Firefox addons I have installed are:-
Adblock Plus
Downloadhelper
Speed Dial

I just tested with Opera and am still seeing my real IP, both with SecurityKiss and DirectVPN.

Also, when I go to this site, using, as above, both VPNs and both browsers, they show my true IPv6 address.
http://www.test-ipv6.com/

I have adblockplus and video download and adblockpopup in my firefox, nothing on the Opera - just the basic download.

Must be some other setting differential.

Edit: I did contact DirectVPN about the video. Hopefully, they will have some info.

depending on how the vpn is setup, if it is a hotshield like program where you run it in background, it might not catch all the open ports maybe and the plugin/program goes through one of them?

The vpns I normally use are setup like a wifi connection where the entire windows OS goes through it, and not a program in background. If I need something through a program, I use a proxy (like advancedtor) instead of a vpn.

not sure how you guys feel about proxv vs vpn, but the program based vpn are same as proxies to me

That all may be and I will look into proxies. However, that is not the issue here. I used the same VPN as Sope and my real IP was still visible in the video and my IPv6 was visible at the site when his was not visible at either.

Anyhow, I am beginning to think this is an issue with IPv6 and the VPN as he does not have an IPv8 and I do. My understanding was that Open VPN, which is what VPNDirect uses, did not have this issue, but my IPv6 is showing. Hopefully, I will get some feedback from VPN Direct.
