Default Firefox tip to speed it up after using many add-ons

not sure how many people notice this but if you install/uninstall a lot of addons, the preferences get left behind and it can slow down firefox. These preferences are stored in prefs.js in the profile folder, or accessed from about:config. Clean the preferences by looking for "extensions." in about:config (then resetting them) or deleting the lines from the prefs.js file. Do this for the addons you no longer have installed

It's partially the reason people see a jump in performance by recreating the profile sometimes, at least for me -.- but I've already figured out that I use a lot more addons than most do here.

it's somewhat like cleaning/fixing the registry on windows. Might not see a big improvement but if you install/uninstall a lot, it'll eventually slow things down a bit. I'm also not sure how many people do this regularly, I just figured I'd share what I do since I'm going through and cleaning out my old addons currently

I remember doing that, and using this, but Firefox remained slow and less stable as long as you've installed a lot of add-ons.
