Firefox 17

Firefox 17 is released and available on the Mozilla site. Received an update notification via the browser too. Release notes have not been updated yet.

Here's an article from PC Magazine on Firefox 17.

Social APIs? Time to find another browser for my XP Machine.

Well, actually I'll wait until I see the final release notes. Maybe Mozilla changed their mind about the whole social API thing.

eyeb, who cares if they update every month as long as the browser works great. It does for me, I never had a "major"problem or headaches because of the updates.

Enjoy it.

Updated quickly via the internal updater.

@ Bo: yes! the frequent updates were initially a pain but looks like we're slowly adopting to it...However, spare a thought for us "addon fanatics" (since some addon creators do not update their addons for the newer versions, some of us would hate the frequent updates).:D

Looks like they've made some slight changes to the click to play plugin blocker (the icons are bigger lego blocks).

Regarding the facebook stuff, here goes:

To enable it, you have to:

1. Go to this page:

https://www.facebook.com/about/messenger-for-firefox

2. Click on the "turn on" option. You have the choice of undoing it or removing it later (thank god!).

3. Thankfully, they've made it an opt-in. So no worries, I guess.

Will not be using the facebook plugin because there is simply no need to.

Looks like no support for Mac Snow Leopard. How long before they drop XP?

Yes, I forgot...addons, sorry about that my friend. I use three addons and usually they work great after updating. The develpers for NoScript, Adblock and Download helper are always on top. I don't have the problem that you guys with twenty or more addons have.

I think they release a new version every two months. Seems like you have fallen quite far behind regarding Firefox, eyeb :D

Looks like no more 64 Bit version for Windows;
