Unfortunately I cannot use any POP/IMAP client when I work at my customer's site. They don't allow this.
And yes, I need to boot and work on Windows, on my customer's laptop. I also need to work behind their firewall and in their network/intranet.

So the only solution in my opinion would be to check my mail accounts on the Web (using IE or Firefox).

I found out that I can use Google Mail to retrieve mail also from other accounts. I was using Google Mail to retrieve my Gmail mails and also my e-mails from other 3 accounts. However the retrieval period is not customizable and I'm not sure how often messages from other accounts are retrieved. I'm afraid not to often... something like every 30 minutes sometimes... which is often not acceptable for me.

I think someone should invent a new portal where you could add gadgets that let you retreive your mail directly from your mail accounts. That person could make money!
You can preview GMail and AOL mail on Yahoo's homepage, and there is a webmail collector add-on for firefox, too I think.

I'm afraid that it only retrieves Gmail mail when you click Inbox. It doesn't retrieve other adresses. I sometimes had a message in Settings saying that the other accounts were retrieved "40 minutes ago"...

Thanks. I think Google offers a similar service with iGoogle. But I need to retrieve also my "local" accounts (prefix .it) which are not supported on these global service providers (like Google or Yahoo).
