Default Direct X screenshot capture freeware

Any suggestions? Most programs I found cannot process in-game captures.

[edited] exists, but it's $30-40 and feels bloated with the number of features.

Would appreciate an all-in-one solution (desktop + games) like the aforementioned [edited].

Have a look at Taksi, I've used it to screenshot a lot of different games.

It's pretty ancient now though; I don't know if it works with post-Dx9 games/software.

Or there's an alternative method which I've used before. Most games afaik support single screenshots just by hitting the PrtSc key while playing (or there might be some other dedicated key or key combi).

All you need then is a program that stores multiple clipboard entries including images, such as ArsClip or CopyQ, or similar.

Your requirement is diverse. There's is no perfect game and desktop screenshot softwares. I'll suggest you 4 different utilities at the moment.

1. Best Free ScreenCapture Tool - ShareX
2. Best Free ScreenRecording Tool - Active Presenter

The above 2 is not useful for games, but they are the best in general desktop screenshot and screenrecording.

Now if you're looking into game screencapture and screenrecording.

1. Best Free Game ScreenCapture Tool - Fraps
The unregistered free version has certain Limitations:
Fraps watermark along top of video
Maximum of 30 seconds per recording
Screenshots saved in bitmap format only

Hence it's good for screenshots only in the Free unregistered version.

2. Best Free Game ScreenRecorder Tool - Loilo Game Recorder
(The software doesn't have any time limitations or watermarks like most other game recording software's. This is the only truly free game recording application I've seen. Sadly it doesn't include screencapture tool, but only game recorder. ) Although you can still record videos, and then after creating the output, simply open the video and use Print Screen.

Edit: The software also include Loila video editor, which is not free, but can be safely uninstalled without affecting the game recorder.

There's actually an immense number of programs that are all-in-one solutions for desktop and in-game screenshots. However, all of them are shareware; I searched for nearly two hours.
The closest solution I could find was using old versions of contemporary programs. I think it's the first time that offers from the freeware world have failed me.

Nonetheless, thanks for the help.

You're right, but I was talking about freeware.

Just tried ShareX.

Not really what I was searching for, but damn; that's one great piece of software!
