Turning 4000 individual txt files into a HTML list which each txt file clickable?

OK, so I have alot of txt files... I need a program that can generate a HTML file containing a list of all the FILENAMES (not their contents) of these txt files. Then, when I click on one of the filenames, it should link to that particular text file. I can then hit the back button and get back to the main list.

Please note that I do not wish to join all these text files into one big list, the whole purpose is that there should be a main list and then each list should be clickable.

Is there anything that will do this (preferrably as simple as possible)? Any suggestions are welcome! Thank you very much for reading.

You can use dirhtml: http://dirhtml.home.comcast.net/~dirhtml/

Just check the checkbox for "Fully qualified path to links" in the settings under Miscellaneous tab.

In my testing, I had two sub folders under one folder in which there were text files. The text files were not able to open for the folder with a space in its name..because the program could not properly handle the space in the folder name... but otherwise the output worked well for other folders with simple names with no space in their names. The text files were able to open and you could go back to the list with the back button.

The program is essentially a directory printer, and will work for any folder with any kind of files. But, for your purpose it will suit you well. You will just have to make sure that the folders don't have spaces in their names.

Their are various options and configurations in the program.. if you can work the bug out with some kind of setting then well and good.. otherwise you can write to the developer about this bug, and see if he is willing to iron it out.
