Unhappy Email Client Needed for Outlook and Hotmail

My wife and I have switched over from Windows XP to Windows 7, 8.1, and Linux Mint Debian Edition (3 computers; 2 desktop and one laptop). We need an email client since Outlook and Hotmail, being web based, do not show up as a recognizable client for our scanner (I cannot scan to email without an installed email client). I just downloaded and installed Thunderbird, but cannot get Thunderbird to import my address book from either Outlook or Hotmail. In researching Thunderbird's forum, this seems like a common problem for which there is no easy fix.

My question: Is there an email client to which I may transfer my Outlook and Hotmail completely into?

I believe 'eM Client' can do what you want. I have been using it for about a year now and am satisfied with it. rmhc.
