Question Parallel Text/Bitext/Multipane e-Reader

I'm reading books in translation, and would like to have a reader or e-reader with a multipane view, so I can see the original and the translation simultaneously.

It would help if (in order of importance):
  • chapter or paragraph starts could be matched or locked together;
  • the software could handle either text/editable file formats or e-book formats (esp. epub or fb2);
  • the documents could be loaded and handled independently;
  • the documents could be saved together as a single file;
  • It could handle more than two panes;
  • there was a dictionary/translate function;
  • there was a search function.

I also prefer GUI to CLI, and use both Windows and Linux (Ubuntu Studio, Mint and OpenSUSE).

At this point, the closest things I have found are Kate, which does plaintext in a multiplane view, and some of the bible study software, which use preformated bitexts.
