Default Windows 7 History

In Windows users\..\appdata, there's a folder called History which keeps a record of all files accessed and so on, sorted into subfolders by date.

Chatting on another forum, it seems that a lot of people have trouble accessing/viewing this folder. Myself included - double clicking doesn't open it and I can only view the contents via the sub-folder menu in QTTabBar.

So I'm wondering, does anyone know of a third party app which would run continuously in the background and maintain such a history?

Ideally it would also record deletions, renames and so on, and would have to also be immune from temp file cleaning. It would be very useful if it worked for all accounts as opposed to the separate folders and locations such as Windows creates.

I've had a quick Google around, looked at Nirsoft, System Explorer etc but I've not found anything that really fits the bill so far.
