Default Iconize all the program windows.

I always have more than four program windows opened at once, and my virtual desktop is too much similar to the real one: a mess.
So, I tend to iconize every window before passing to another, but this sucks. I wonder if an utility exists, that iconizes every window every time I click on one present on the icon bar, or start a new application by the Start button or other way.
Thanks to everyone.

Hi there,
not sure if I understand you correctly but isn't that what the keys:

WinKey + M (minimize all)
Shift+WinKey+M (restore all)

do?

Best regards,
George

Send your open programs to tray is an option. These are couple of utilities such as TrayIt or PowerMenu discussed in Best Free Application Minimizer.

In relation to this, you might want a program to always stay on top of other open windows, then try some utilities in Best Free Setting On-Top Windows.

Thanks for the answers, but...
I knew the WinKey+M shortcut, but what I want is **doing nothing** and having the result! (lazy?)
I took a look to some of the programs suggested; I also found a MiniMIZE program that reduces a window to a thumbnail, with a nice effect, but... I have to click on the Iconize button on the top right of the windows, while I still want **doing nothing** (yes, lazy!).
Now, I wish that something like this happened: I presently have these programs opened: PersonalBrain 3.0, Firefox, OpenOffice Calc, Foobar2000, FreeCommander, Mozilla Sunbird... each one cluttering part or all of my desktop; now I press the Alt+Tab keys and move from Firefox to Foobar2000, but the Firefox window still remains where it was... notice that I already had to press two keys and am a little tired... so, if the Firefox would automatically iconize, I would be grateful.
I read in the Best Free Setting On-Top Windows that "The system will minimize a window automatically when it is not focused", and THIS is exactly what I want! But I had no idea about this OS behaviour, nor I know how to have it happen.
Well, I put a lot of keystrokes in this message... and thanks to all the people who put their time and skills in helping others.

FileBox Extender can be configured to almost do what you want.

Thanks for pointing out. To make it more specific, I have amended the description to "When a maximized window is focused, the system will minimize other windows automatically." in the Best Free Setting On-Top Windows.

I think you are looking for a feature to make the system to minimize other windows automatically when a "non-maximized" window is focused.

Well, is this close to Aero Shake, one of the features previewed in Windows 7?

Someone has developed this feature for XP and Vista, try it here: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2008/1...-xp-aeroshake/, "shaking an active window with your mouse will minimize all other windows; shaking it again will restore them."

It is not fully auto though, you need to shake it!
