Is there an on-screen ruler (not online) that accurretly shows inches or centimeters. I know that for a desktop ruler to show actual sizes it is neccessary to know the screen resolution and monitor size. I have tried some but they only display pixels size accurately. When I choose cm or inches it shows unacurrate sizes
![]() I wonder if there is an on screen ruler that lets you input the screen resolution and monitor size so that the shown measures are correct. So far I have tried: JR Screen Ruler A Ruler For Windows Ruler by John Kummailil Thanks ![]() |

4goTTen21, he has already tried the first one, which is by Kummailil.
The second link you shared to was to a commercial software. I have replaced the link with the last free version of that software. Here are some more suggestions. MB-ruler : http://www.markus-bader.de/MB-Ruler/index.htm Cool Ruler : http://www.softpedia.com/get/Desktop...ol-Ruler.shtml Cool Ruler is not listed on its site anymore... but I read people swearing by it on two sites. NRuler : http://www.noutash.com/freebies/nruler/ Meazure : http://www.cthing.com/Meazure.asp Free Screen Ruler : http://delphi.about.com/od/fullcodep...reen_ruler.htm I haven't tried any of them personally, so you will need to check them out and see which one works for you. I found some more free ones while searching Google, but they did not seem to have the functionality you wanted of measuring other than pixels.

Anupam and 4goTTen21 thank you for your great suggestions. After trying all of the above I found that Meazure is very accurate after setting up its calibration tool, which I was able to do in a matter of seconds. Very easy to use and very accurrate. Thank you Anupam
![]() MB ruler is great it has a lot of options too but I found meazure easier to sep up and the main window is very flexible in terms of customization. Here is a screenshot of meazure after I customized the main screen: ![]() |

Glad I could be of help, and that you found a software to suit your needs.
It's funny that I was in two minds whether to suggest Meazure. Looking at the features, it did not look like it had the feature which you wanted. Then, I read about the calibration for different monitors, and had a thought that it might work. Glad it did ![]()

recently searched for this so I needed similar tool myself. this one worked for me http://arulerforwindows.com/
Online rulers truly don't work - you are all aware of the problem why - screen pixel depends on screen density and simply cannot be 'translated' to real life cm and inch measure - not unless calibrated. can something like http://www.realruler.com be acceptable as solution?
