Default ...Routes individual programs through proxy

My university provides a proxy to remotely access their resources (they can't be accessed remotely otherwise).
I have a bibliographic/reference program that I want to use that proxy.
But I don't want to change my global proxy settings (in Control Panel > Internet Options) because all my programs will run through the proxy (slow).
Anyone know of freeware that allows you to route individual programs through a proxy?

You can switch proxies easily enough;

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1557

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/125

http://proxy-switcher.smartcode.com/

there are loads more but I have only actually tried a few of them. If you use other browsers just search for a proxy switcher for them, there are quite a few extant, many with good proxy lists.

Regards.....

The first two are only for Firefox. The program that I need to proxy does not go through Firefox. I'll check the third.
