Is there any text editor better than Notepad++?

I've use for several years the famous Notepad++ (http://notepad-plus-plus.org/) .

I wonder what text editor do you use?

I switched from [edited] to GNU Emacs last year and haven't looked back for a while now. :)
It's better than N++ because N++ has been crashing a lot when I gave it a try last time. And it can do everything.

(Prepare for over 1,000 different ones.)

I think it depend on what is you are using it for. If you are a coder - try https://atom.io/

Notepad++ is still the best to me, and I use two:

1. Notepad++, opens up in fullscreen from the taskbar, to edit html code, etc.
2. Also Notepad++ (with topmost plugin), opens up in a small window from the taskbar, to prepare small notes, short replies, etc.

I use both Notepad++ and evaluation version of commercial software ...

I used to use Akelpad as my default before I decided that I really didn't need most of the functions that it is stuffed with. I now use Notepad2 which is nice and minimal ... just a basic notepad but with a few toolbar icons which I like to have.
