Isn't it odd that ChaletOS has the whole WPS 9.2 suite in its distro?

I believe the Linux version is still beta, and hasn't been affected like the Windows version (yet).

They are adding a watermark (although they are also mentioning about it) in Word documents that you print. Does this mean I can't print my own documents especially for projects without getting interfered by their watermarks.

I guess this is the end of the road. Since WPS has taken over its become worse.

Yes, I also noted this. Certainly the end of the road!

As far as I know it is still alpha and not yet reached beta. I'm also aware they have changed to an online language format, instead of an installed package. I guess this means no spell check unless you are connected. Even without the promise of a watermark (or not) for the Linux version I can't even be bothered now to follow the latest developments. With the likes of LibreOffice and Calligra freely available, not to mention Abiword, I think the days of WPS are pretty much numbered all round.

I don't use Kingsoft/WPS Office myself but I'd like to suggest that the article on the main site should be amended to link to Kingsoft Office 2013 version 9.1.0.4550 from Softpedia. A note should also be included in the article explaining about the water marking and why it does not link to the latest version.

I came across mention of WPS Office somewhere today, and I thought of checking up on its website.

It seems like they have brought back the capability to edit and save docx and similar files in the free version. Maybe their decision to retract this ability did not go well.

However, they have retained the restriction of having watermark if you print the documents, or save as PDF. Also, VBA/Macros won't be available in the free version.

Details here:

For me, I think these restrictions can be overlooked, if I just want to edit and save files. So, I will be downloading the latest version of WPS Office and see how it goes.

BTW, it's strange that on opening the home page of WPS, I could not find any link to the Windows version. There are links to IOS and Android versions, and a link to Linux version at the end.

I had to find the link for Windows version from Google. It's weird.
