1. I don't know what they are either. I suggest you spend some time doing some online searches (Google) to see if you can find out what they are.
2. You might also consider running a Hijack This log and posting it on forums/sites that assist people with Hijack This logs.

This is a good place to check those out-you can just enter the items in the search box
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/uninstall/ I checked a few of the ones beginning with ESS and they appear to be legitimate parts of Kodak EasyShare camera's software. Most of the ones beginning with kgc did not come back, but one did and it was also from Kodak EasyShare camera's software, so those are probably OK too.
