Default Can I replace folder icons?

Old geezer here in UK, new to your forum and hopefully gonna spend many an hour here learning. I currently use google chrome via vista. I've condensed many of my favourites to new folders ie 17 websites are now in 5 folders but each folder looks the same. I'd like to replace them with easily identifiable icons but am of the opinion that is too technical, is it so?

It's not too difficult to change the look of a folder. I've found a page that describes how to do it, and describes it simply. It's here. It's right at the top of the page, follow the instructions 1 to 6.

If you get stuck, post back.

If you are talking about the bookmarks folders that are displayed within the Chrome browser interface, I don't think it's possible (though I stand to be corrected).

As per Deya's suggestion, Windows provides a way of changing the standard folder icons. Here's another tutorial showing you with pics while avoiding the plug for Folder Marker (which does have a freeware version but has mixed reviews and I believe nags you to upgrade).

According to some articles around the net it does appear possible, but it is really a hack, and requires some technical editing of chrom's database. http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/3032/...bookmarks_bar/ It really is quite stupid that Google has not yet implemented such a in demand feature.
A Real No Brainer!

I use both Firefox and Chromium browsers, but I continually get frustrated with certain minimalist features of Chrome. One such feature is how the "find" box goes away every time a new page loads. In FF it stays open until you decide you want to close it. I despise when programs try to second guess me.

Ah,.. I've read the original post wrong there - good job someone's paying attention to what's written. Anyway, if islandman ever wants to change his folder icons he'll know how to do it now - in advance :-)

Hi islandman,

i'm not sure that this is exactly what you want, but i think it will help.
I found two related articles at how-to-geek.

Here and here.

And if you want more about Chrome you can find it here.
