Default Router Problem

Hi all,

I had TP-Link Router (TL-WR642G router) since 1year, it was working fine; i stoped using it for like 1-2months, but when i tried to use it, it stopped giving me the full ISP speed Ex:-

My Internet Speed is 512Kbps = download speed = 50Kbps

If i connect directly from my pc to the modem i get the full speed(download speed = 50Kbps)

but if i used the rounter i get download speed 6-7Kbps, I brought new router TP-Link TL-WR740N and same problem, I tired both wireless and wired connection and same!

I dunno whats the problem lately,

I did reset my router, and updated its framework and still same problem,
i took the router out of my room to the old place where it was working fine, but the problem still exit, I tried on both pcs and same problem

I know Wierd problem, but i duno whats happend and whats wrong

Thanks for any kind of help,

Hi Asif. Welcome to our forums. I happen to have a TP-L WR642G as well. The problem you are experiencing is very strange, considering that it is happening when both connecting wirelessly and wired to the router.

One of the major causes of connection slow down when using a router is the fact that the signal is being shared amongst too many computers. This does not appear to be your problem, unless....you don't have your wireless signal secured and you have neighbors who are tapping in.

Try shutting of your wireless radio and doing a direct wired connection. (The enable/disable button is under the main wireless settings dialogue)

Hi,

Thanks for the quick help

but am sure no one connected to it, becuse i checked DHCP if any other pc connected to the router,

one more thing, i connect only 1 pc at atime when i tried to connect to the router,

i dunno if i should give DNS as static not letting it to my ISP or any other idea, coz i ran out of ideas

Regards,

I am sorry I really don't know much about trouble shooting this part of networking. Since it is happening with both routers, I don't think it would be a router problem. It may be a problem with some configuration on both computers. Have you installed any new software on both PCs, set up networking between them, or some different configuration than when you were not having the trouble before.

What operating system are you using.

Hi,

Sorry it seems not Router problem, i brought 2 new routers and same problem;This is what i did after:
I thought modem the problem i brought new modem, but still problem exist, i took the Filter off but problem still exist, even if i connect directly another pc to modem, i still get same problem;

Internet Work 100% only on 1pc of 3pcs; am kinda confused and am sure 100% its not virus problem since i tried it on mac;

i dunno, could it be Internet ISP or modem SP blocking any other pcs to connect or something wrong on their side;

regards,
