Question Acer Backup Manager

I have just bought a new desktop with Win7, 64bits (and started my journey from XP to Win7). Preinstalled among other programs is "Acer Backup Manager". I have searched Internet for reviews or tests, but have not found anything useful. Does anybody here know something about this program, in particular about its stability and reliability?

I know that it is not possible to step twice into the same river, but I would nethertheless be most grateful for an experienced verdict.

Hey Bengt! Its been a while since I have seen you around the forums. I am the resident backup category editor around here, so I guess I'll take a shot at answering your question.

I'll say right up front I have never used Acer Backup Manager, and I don't know much about the program itself. But I do know it was developed by NTI (NewTech Infosystems). They are the makers of several very good backup programs. One called NTI Shadow is a highly revered product in many circles and is often employed in the commercial world. They have two other products one of which is Backup Now EZ and I think that Acer Backup Manager may be a rebranding of an older version of that product. I can't say for sure. So the guys at NTI know a lot about backup software so my educated guess would be that it will be an okay product.

I see that it is available for download in some places on the net, but I don't know if it is considered freeware or not. But if I find out more I will let you know.

PS I did not post links because they only have commercial softwares.

OK so I tried to download from some of the links where Acer Backup was available for free. Apparently it was originally offered only directly from the NTI site, and now look like it is no longer available. Probably only available now from Acer themselves and likely only on the software disks that come with the computer. I do see that there are updates or upgrades for acer software's on their site, so you may be able to update to a better version.

Hope this helps. Since there is no freeware involved, my quest ends here.

Have a good one.

Hello Ritho! Yes, its been a while since I was around, a couple of tough (for an old man) jobs and my sonīs newly born son and the effort to go from the at last (thanks to you fantastic people at TSA) reasonably familiar XP world to the new Win7 territory left little extra time. And yes, I did find an update at Acer, and I have now checked that is difficult to find any free download site (at least not green WOTs). So I understand your end of story. Anyway, many thanks for your two answers. I think I will use Win7īs system imaging and then try to get some feeling for the Acer Backup Manager. (I have only installed a few programs, so there is some room for mistakes.)
