Hardware bugs

Im haveing a problem with my computer im hoping somone can help with regrding hardware, My little sister broke my old computer moniter after having a tantrum so i have had to buy a new moniter. Since then i have not been able to shutdown my computer. I open the start menu and no matter what i choose logoff or shutdown the computer hangs and i dont get the useual XP dialoge box asking what to do next.

I also have a shutdown key on my keboard which when i use programs shut down fine and normally then it freezes on the log off/Shutting down screen.
My computer starts up fine but when i get to the log on screen if i press the shutdown button instead of logging in the same problem happens and the computer freezes.

Can anyone help me to iron out these problems.

Hi

Have you tried to restore from an earlier date. Even with the new monitor windows should recognize the new hardware and install the correct driver. Might be worth a try.

Cheers

Thanks for the sugestion i have done this and the problem is now sorted. It has been a couple of months since my old screen broke on me, and i had to update a few software, and a couple of microsoft updates. i think that microsoft updates had installed the software needed to use the computer as the had a download for the new moniter and everything is working fine now.

Its amazing how only 2 months go by and you could miss out on so much stuff.
I missed out on a few hot finds that i would of liked. And my I.E. Tab addon for firefox doesnt work on the latest update on firefox. so i had to use internet explorer.
