I've got a flaky XP install and it keeps losing the systray 'Safely Remove USB Devices' icon, even with 3 USB drives hooked up.
You can get it back by rebooting - but where's the proper switch to get that widget back, please? |

I don't know the specific answer to your question, but I've been using this freeware, USB Disk Ejector, instead of the XP one:
http://quick.mixnmojo.com/usb-disk-ejector It works really well.

Start > Run > RunDll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll > ok
You can also make a shortcut on your Desktop to this file Then after making the shortcut you can check Properties > Change icon > Look in> hotplug.dll > enter > choose your icon. > apply > ok Hope this helps ![]() Edit: Oh and here's another freebie: http://www.iconremover.com/ A freeware tool for Showing/Removing 'Safely Remove Hardware' icon Last edited by kimsland; 06.
