Did you recently install any program, which might have caused this?

Did you try to uninstall and then reinstall the messengers? Some screenshots might help to understand, what the problem exactly is. It is not very clear from the description.

Do you get any error when running MSN or Yahoo, which might give an idea about the problem?

What is your OS? You can look in Event Viewer, for any errors. Event Viewer can be found here :

Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer

Which antivirus are you having? If you think you might have virus on your system, then, update the definitions of your antivirus, and run a system scan.

Additionally, you can download antispywares like MalwareBytes Antimalware, and SuperAntiSpyware. Install them, update their definitions, and run scans.
