Red face Excel help

Hi..I want some help in excel 2007. What I want is I have a common database worksheet, which stores all the information..more than 1000 lines and 20 columns. So I usually sort the values using auto filtering. but I want the auto filtering results in a new sheet so that i will have a better view. then i want to edit or add data in the new filtered sheet and need the results updated in master sheet. needed the same option with different work books. I tried pivot table and its good and do what i want, except I cannot edit in the resulted pivot table. Is there any way to do that ? Or any option to help me.

Thank you..

As an initial observation; it sounds as though you really need a database for this, rather than Excel.

However, that said, I'll try to assist you with this, using Excel.

You're probably best just using advanced filtering, and keeping the data where it is. This way you can search the data a lot more efficiently, and edit the data where it is.

Here are two helpful links as an intro to advanced filtering...but Google has heaps more...
