You had posted this message in some other thread, which was not related to the problem. So, I have moved your post here as a new thread. Please start a new thread for a problem, to get help in a proper and better way
![]() As for the problem, you should try booting laptop in safe mode, and see if the pen drive is detected or not. If its detected without giving a blue screen, then scan the drive with your antivirus/antispyware. If this does not work, you will have to use the drive with another PC, and see if it works or not. If it does, scan the drive there. If the data inside is not important, format the drive and see.

First install this onto your laptop: http://research.pandasecurity.com/ar...S-Support.aspx
Make sure it's enabled and working. Then plug in your pen drive on your laptop. If you don't get the blue screen, then it must have been something within it. Move all of your important data (don't just move the entire folder, check the files within) into a safe location. If there's too many files, and/or you don't know which file name and extensions to look for, then you might as well scan the drive first with your AV and/or scanners from here. After all of your important data is secured, format the pen drive. If you still get the blue screen, it may be another problem, such as faulty drivers. |

There are two more softwares that you can try. Try them in the order as I give them. If one does not work, then go for the other. But most probably, the first one should work fine.
Flash Disinfector : This is a tool from BleepingComputers. The link, and how to use the program is given here. Please read, and proceed as guided. http://www.myantispyware.com/2009/01...-removal-tool/ ArpanTech iKill : http://arpantech.aphelic.com/downloa...rity/iKill.htm This also works on the auto run file that is created on the USB, and help to prevent spreading of virus. Please try them, following the instructions, and hopefully your problem will be solved ![]()

I have windows vista home premium with sp2 and up to date with windows firewall and defender, avira antivir antivirus which is up to date and i clean my system every 3 days.
I don't think my system is infected. I dont even think now that my pen drive has a virus but something in it makes my system crash and restart. |

Did you try the pen drive on another PC or laptop to see if it crashes the other PC too? If yes, then problem is with the pen drive. If not, some problem might be with your laptop.
Did you format the pen drive, and then checked, if it still crashes the system?

The problem is as soon as the system detects the pen drive it restarts. Is it a hardware problem like compatibility? I can't format the drive as i want to recover the data on it. thank you |
