Thumbs down Firefox asking to be back as default on Win10?

Funning this a.m.

Have been using Edge as default for the last few days and surprise, a popup at the bottom right corner appeared, asking if i wanted to set Firefox back as reset! Ha! ha! ho! ho! ho!

Was this a Mozilla thing or a Windows thing (the latter highly unlikely).

I believe it's a Firefox thing, when you enable "Always check if Firefox is your default browser" in the Firefox settings (which is turned on by default i guess).

I use the New Microsoft Edge on Windows because of it's privacy and how well it complements with the built in security modules, integration with Smartscreen, Secure DNS, Tracking prevention, Password Monitor and finally Windows Defender. It has achieved the highest malware/phishing protection among the browsers. Also on my Windows machine it uses the least memory & CPU compared to other popular browsers.

I still use Mozilla Firefox as my primary browser on my Linux OS

Could be the "always check if Firefox" bit, but i usually leave that feature enabled for all browsers in case i get frustrated with the one that is.

No, this time it was different.
Instead of it appearing after clicking on browser icon to get it going, i was quietly running Edge and this notification appeared out of nowhere from the bottom right corner (as other Win related notifications regularly do). Firefox has never done this in this manner before, ever.

Have rarely heard someone highly praise Microsoft Edge, especially in the way you did George. What is this "Secure DNS" on Microsoft Edge?

Btw, tried Brave on latest FerenOS last night and it is super fast!
Much faster than Vivaldi or Firefox.
Fast to boot and fast for page rendering.

The New Microsoft Edge finally became my go-to browser, after it became Chromium based, it became as secure as Chromium base and went up even further. Secure DNS is Microsoft's implementation of DNS over HTTPs which allows for greater privacy & security to keep the content of your web traffic as well as the destination private. The feature allows you to use alternate encrypted DNS providers. I guess Firefox and Chrome already has this feature.

Unlike Google Chrome, the new Microsoft edge is more privacy focused, arguably has better security, is noticeably lighter and at times faster. Also it now supports Chrome extensions being based off Chromium. Being a long time user of Chrome, Vivaldi and Firefox, now I've settled with the New Microsoft Edge. Web browsers are mostly about personal preference, you can't go wrong with any of them, when you've found something that suits your needs.

I thought I would never live to see the day that Microsoft products like IE (Edge) and Windows Defender would become as good or even better than it's counterparts. Yes, even Windows Defender has improved a lot, and can match well known antiviruses with AndyFul's ConfigureDefender. Probably it's time to update the Best Free Antivirus Section.

Wonder why www.yippy.com (security oriented search engine) still recommends Firefox over others?

Windows Defender is my go to.
If it weren't so, i would probably be always on Linux by now.

Oddly enough, even after bouncing around to other browsers, haven't seen anymore popup notifications to make Firefox default.

Don't want to make this a Windows thread, but the way it handles Edge with alt+tab to show all open tabs in a very decent sized preview window is something quite pleasant!
